Redress Solutions PLC and Queens’ College, University of Cambridge to host the fourth Queens’ Distinguished Lecture in Law to be delivered by Former Chief Justice of Canada, Beverly McLachlin at Queen’s College on 16th October 2018
The Queens’ Distinguished Law lecture (QDLL) sponsored by Redress will take place tomorrow (16th October) and will be delivered by the Former Chief Justice of Canada, Beverly McLachlin who also sits as a Justice of Singapore’s International Commercial Court and the Hong Kong Final Court of Appeal. She chose to speak on “The Rule of Law: Survival in the Post-Modern World”. Given the current geo political context, her lecture will be closely watched. The QDLL is now a milestone at Cambridge with highly distinguished speakers giving fascinating and thought-provoking lectures. Lady Hale, President of the UK Supreme Court, spoke about “The Right to Live and The Right to Die”, Lord Grabiner spoke about “Illegality and Restitution explained by the Supreme Court in Patel vs. Mirza” and Lord Falconer, the former Lord Chancellor, accused the May Government of breaching the law by appointing a completely unqualified person, Liz Truss, to that post The lecture is also an occasion to honour hard working students with prizes, as well as a lectureship all sponsored by Redress.
